I have been reading blogs for more than 3 years now [though I started my own blog very recently]. Over the time, the blogs, people who write them & they way the presentation of blog is decided had came through huge changes.
And over the time the kind of blogs I loath about have also increased phenominally. By “kind of blogs” I mean the way they are presented, I won’t comment on individual writing styles because I don’t feel I am that good in writing myself.
Below is the partial list of kinda blogs I loath to visit second time, even if the content is good:
1. Images. Images. Images. More images. And more images. Damn !!! my browser hogs memory & cpu useage as if I am running a damn DNA-Sequencing kinda program. Why can’t people put images in a seperate page instead of putting everything on main page ??
2. Music. Songs. HELLO !! I thought I am reading a blog or what! If I want to listen music I can do that on my music system !! Or on my system, when all of a sudden I get to hear a new remixed version of “Fast Cars” !! No Thank You !! But I am not interested in LISTENING to the music you like, I am more comfortable reading about it.
3. VIDEOS !!! Do you know how much memory they hog ?? You might be having a system with good config, but not everyone. For that matter not ME EITHER !! Who the heck is interested in seeing what gymnastics your neighbor’s-uncle’s-son’s-daughter’s-dog did yesterday evening !!!
4. “Continue to Read” ??? Why ? I am a lazy fcuking idiot !! I don’t like to use my mouse too much, so why should I do a extra click ?
5. Small Fonts !! What ? You want me to sit with a electron microscope ?? Or do you want expect me to use Hubble Telescope to read your blog ?? Come out of the “8px-is-cool” syndrome !!
Oh! You are thinking you give a damn to what I like or dislike ? Exactly what I want to say !!

This is so great!
I love this post!!!
I’m guilty of an item or two that you have listed…but I’m not as bad as some people are…
heh heh. I posted something like this on my blog a while back, so I totally agree with everything you said
I couldn’t agree more. I’m stuck on dial-up, so when something has tons of images, video, audio, it slaughters my bandwidth and takes 20 minutes to load, assuming I allow it to load.
I say if you insist on having video/audio on your blog. At least give me the option to play it if I want. Don’t set it to auto-run. Grr!!
Exactly my point “IdentityMIA”.
The images/video/audio just simply hogs on the bandwidth & it pains more when someone is on limited bandiwth kinda plan. Why don’t people understand this simple logic !
I will keep all your points in my mind before posting anything.
i hate all of what you list, plus these additional ones:
excessive animations. looks like i’m reading a page for little kids. jumping alphabets, flying numbers, wagging dogs, fluterring insects crawling over the page….ish….it’s so irritating and takes an eternity to load. i usually close the window before even reading anything.
colors that make you go blind. blue on yellow, red on green, everywhere and every post having a different color scheme.
i espeically hate videos embedded in it.
and you know what, 55% of my own friends are guilty of four or more from that list. *hmph*
This is great, they all get on my nerves too. Right on!
Hi:
I just failed one item, and that is “Read More”. The reason I do it, is to help bloggers who are short on bandwidth. My first page is very simple, with only one small image to give the reader a hint of what will be covered in the next page where the real stuff is.
It never occurred to me, people would have an issue with one click, but now I know better. Hmmm. What will I do to help those surfing with an Internet speed of 56 KB? I’ll think of something.
The rest of your points are well taken and I agree with all of them.
Just my two cents worth.
Omar.-
Oh! and how could I forget the PET BLOGS !!!
Don’t get me wrong people, but really !! There ain’t enough communication between people around us, what makes you think I’ll out-of-my-fcuking-mind to read what your dog/cat/bat/pig/hen/etc/etc/etc want to say ?? Neither am I interested even if your dog wins “The Pet Who Can Blog” award of the year !!!
Agreed on all points. I’ve got a good computer, fast internet connection, and big monitor, but it’s annoying when I’m *forced* to play some stupid media file.
True – I can’t stand blogs in which people write about things which wouldn’t be even interesting to their nearest and dearest, but they think the world wants to know – eg – diet progress, cat photos, visits to the shop, their nice neighbours, etc.
Apologies if any of these topics are a favourite.
I really really like your blog. It looks neat and easy to read. I would come back man, Keep up the good work
I know people who use Myspace.com and are sooo guilty of it – BUT I HATE IT WHEN THEY USE HORIZONTAL MARQUEES TO DISPLAY ALL THEIR PICS!!! I know, sorry for the all caps, my emotional hormones are in full swing (thanks to the litteral 16 shots of caffe espresso.) And the music that automatically loads, unless one is logged in and turned off the option in their account setup. I have the dsl and a good laptop and cpu, but like y’all are saying, but still, it takes up too much, even for me.
Agreed.
The things you list can be irritating, true. Unfortunately, they also correlate with some of the most original and consistently interesting blogs I know. I suppose all things have their price.
Good points, indeed. Like you, I find “Read More” to be an invitation to go away, which I not only do, but never come back as well.
I totally agree with you. Specially when the music comes out
louder than a train going @120 miles/hour.
Videos,images,animation………no thanks, I don’t have time
for all this stuff.
Marie
Great list! Although I do like the photo blogs sometimes.
