In my search for a good Web based Word Processor , I stumbled upon Writely thanks to Ten Blogging Hacks article by Steve Rubel . I have been using writely now for past 2 weeks and without any doubts it is THE BEST Web based Word Processor I have got my hands on [just between you and me, I didn't got time or patience to try something else]. So much so that now I am using it even for posting on my wordpress blog.

Though I have to scratch my head a little bit for finding a way to post on wordpress since their “Hosted Provider” did not had wordpress or Moveable Type [and also because I'm a FCUKING IDIOT]. But thanks to their quick response to my query and nice little forum I did finally manage to setup my writely account to post directly to wordpress.

If you are like me, not a FCUKING IDIOT but using wordpress.com and have a writely account but don’t know how to post directly from writely, below are the simple steps to do so [I am taking in account that you have already created the document you want to post]:

Step 1: Open the document you want to post.

Writely - Click on Blog Link
Setp 2: Click on “Blog” link, that is fourth link on upper-left corner.

Step 3: You will get to “Blog Post Preview” page, there click on “Blog Site Setting” link, that is available again in top-left hand side, below “Edit” and “Collaborate”.

Writely - Blog Setting pop-up
Step 4: In the “Blog Setting” pop-up, click on “My own Server/Custom” radio button.
Step 5: In the refreshed page, select “MovableType API” in API drop-down list and in URL enter your complete wordpress URL followed by xmlrpc.php [Example, if your blog name is fcukingidiot, then you will have to enter http://fcukingidiot.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php].
Step 6: In “Existing Blog Settings” enter your wordpress User Name & Password and your Blog ID/Name. In case you are not sure of the Blog ID/Name, leave it blank, writely will automatically get it for you. And click on “Include the document title when posting (if supported) check-box.
Step 7: Click on OK and you are DONE!!

Writely - Post to Blog

Now the only thing left is to click on “Post to Blog” link [in the top right-hand corner, below Writely image].

Though there are few things missing, like ability to select the category, enabling/disabling comments for the posts, text manipulation, etc, but overall it is a nice tool to work with.

So give it a try, look around, play with it and enjoy.

Note: This entry is not endorsed/paid by Writely in any way, neither am I associated with Writely other than just an end user.
