After in-numerable visits to digicam stores in search of the 3 preferred models, today I finally gave up and took a complete U-Turn.
As I wrote earlier, time is not on my side and I needed something quick, so I settled for a Handicam. It’s JVC GR-D250, an inexpensive and compact built model. I didn’t went for Sony since they were costing more than I was prepared to shell out.

It is not a high end model, but have some nifty features which looks good enough to me. Here is the partial list [picked from JVC's site]:
- 25X Optical Zoom
- Clear LCD 2.5″ High Resolution Monitor, to reduce glare and reflections from the LCD screen.
- Color Viewfinder
- 1/6-inch 680,000 Pixel CCD
- 800X Digital Hyper Zoom with Spline Interpolation
- Night Alive for full color shooting in extreme low light
- Digital Image Stabilizer
- Weighs just .97 Lbs
Only things that I found “not too pleasing” :
- No USB port, only FireWire.
Since I have not used the cam till now so I can’t tell you the video quality. Am planning for a little R&D session tonite so will probably try to update about the picture quality tomorrow. If you have used the cam, will be delighted to know your comments about it.
Oops !! Did I forgot to mention they gave me a handycam shoulder bag & FireWire port chip for my desktop FREE !!
And NO. I have not given up on my digicam. I will definately go for that, but now after sometime.
